Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the treatment of the body using a variety of clinically proven and research-based techniques such as joint mobilisations, soft tissue massage, exercise, electrotherapies and acupuncture. We are experts in the provision of all these treatments and many more and the fact that we are chartered is your assurance of quality.

The following are some of the questions we are most frequently asked about physiotherapy. If you require more information than we’ve given, or have a different question, please feel free to contact us.

What conditions can physiotherapy help?

We are musculoskeletal specialists. This means that we are skilled at treating any pain or injury that affects a bone, joint, muscle, tendon, ligament or nerve. Examples of conditions we treat are neck and low back pain, sports injuries, frozen shoulder, headaches, repetitive strain injuries, hip and knee problems and heel pain. If it hurts we can probably help it! If we can’t then we’ll be able to advise you on what to do next.

What can I expect when I come for treatment?

At your first visit we will carry out a full assessment of your condition. This will involve examining the affected area in order to try and establish the cause of your problem, asking you questions about how and when it first began, how it affects you and what things make it worse or better. By gathering all this information together we will be able to formulate a working diagnosis and be in a position to commence treatment. At this stage we may give you some specific exercises to do and will advise you on general self care, such as good posture or the use of heat or ice, that should help your condition to improve. The total number of treatments required will vary from person to person and from condition to condition but we will always discuss our findings with you so that you understand the treatment options.

How much does treatment cost?

Our standard charge for account paying customers is £35 per session. For those who wish to pay as they go we offer a discounted rate of £30 per session.

How can I pay?

If you wish to use an insurance policy then you will find that as chartered physiotherapists we are recognised by all the major health care providers such as BUPA, PPP and Norwich Union. Alternatively, if you wish to pay as you go, we accept cash or cheques.

How long are treatments?

First appointments are always 45 minutes long. Thereafter appointments may be 30 minutes or 45 minutes depending upon the requirements of each individual case.

Do I need a referral to come and see you?

If you intend to pay for your treatment through an insurance policy then you may need to be referred by your GP or a specialist (ask your insurer). However, if you intend to pay yourself then no referral is required.

What if I can’t get to you?

Home and office visits are available. Contact us to let us know your circumstances and we will do our best to accommodate you.
