As many of you know, Body Works offers a specialist women’s pelvic health service, but not many people know what exactly a pelvic health physiotherapist does and how it can help you or a loved one. To find out more about this much needed service, read on and watch our interview with Body Works’ specialist women’s health physio, Siobhan.
Essentially, pelvic health physiotherapy focuses on the assessment and treatment of the musculoskeletal system in the pelvic area, the pelvic floor and related areas. Siobhan’s expertise allows her to address a wide range of conditions, including:
- Underactive or overactive pelvic floor muscles – which may cause urine leakage, incontinence, urgency or pain
- Bladder and bowel dysfunction (such as incontinence or constipation)
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Sexual dysfunction or pain
- Ante and post-natal pelvic pain
- Peroneal pain.
If you’re experiencing any of these issues, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Pelvic health physiotherapy is about assessing, treating and guiding you back to doing the things you love with confidence and comfort.
